Invisalign uses a series of removable, virtually invisible
and comfortable aligners, which people seldom notice when they are being
worn. Invisalign treatment, uses
computer imaging technology to create a series of custom-made removable
aligners for you. The aligners, made of
a virtually invisible plastic, are worn over your teeth to gradually move them
to the ideal position.
The aligners are not only invisible, but can also be removed so that you can eat and drink what you want while still in treatment. Brushing and flossing is also not difficult because of this removal.. The aligners are more comfortable to wear than normal braces and cause fewer sore spots in the mouth. Any adjustments required will be a lot quicker and mean less time in the dental chair, than receiving traditional orthodontic treatment.
Each set of aligners is worn for about two weeks, with removal only required when eating, drinking, brushing or flossing. As each aligner is replaced with the next in the series, your teeth will move gradually, week by week, until they have straightened to the final position your doctor has prescribed. You'll visit our practice about once every six weeks to ensure that the treatment has progressed as planned. Total treatment time averages from nine to fifteen months, during which time, the number of aligners worn can vary between 18 and 30.
